The Orlando JUG is a non-profit, vendor-independent organization. The primary goals for this group will be to provide Java-related information to its members, to facilitate contacts between its members, and to promote the use of Java technology in the Orlando Area. Through the generosity of corporate and individual sponsors, membership is free!

Meeting Announcement

The September meeting of the Orlando Java Users Group is coming up on Thursday, Sept 26. We will be meeting at SAIC and refreshments are being provided by Signature Consulting. Our meetings are open to anyone interested in Java so feel free to pass this along and don't forget to send a rsvp to rsvp@orlandojug.org if you are planning on attending.

Presentation: Ant & Cruise Control

Ant has become the de facto standard for Java builds, especially among the open-source community. I will touch on the benefits, and downfalls of using Ant. I will also introduce you to Cruise Control, an automated build tool that, working hand-in-hand with Ant, can make the life of a developer much easier. In addition, I will get into some detail about some of the advanced, often overlooked features of Ant. A few other surprises will be in order as well.

Speaker: Joe Kueser, SAIC

Joe Kueser has been doing what he calls "that development gig" professionally for 10 years. He has developed technologies in a large number of fields, including law, medicine, telecommunications, cellular, wireless, various Internet technologies, PDA development, and now military simulation. Currently Joe works for SAIC in the Research Park area of Orlando, helping develop a homeland defense training system.
