Meeting Announcement

Just wanted to remind everyone of the OJUG meeting this Thursday. Looks like we're going to have another good turnout. Be sure to send your rsvp to rsvp@orlandojug.org if you haven't already.

Featured Presentation: "Agile Modeling", Michael Vizdos
A 537 Kb pdf version of the presentation is available.
=======================================================
The main goal of the presentation this month is to provide a background of Agile Modeling.

What is it? What is the scope? In discussing the values, principles, and practices of Agile Modeling it will also lead to open discussions within the group as to, "When will Agile Modeling work for you?" -- and when it will NOT. Synergistic and iterative practices, along with the EUP (Enterprise Unified Process http://www.ronin-intl.com/publications/unifiedProcess.html) will also be discussed.

ALL "specialties" within the software development arena are invited to attend, at all levels of experience. As usual, "experienced" developers can learn from "new people" and vice-versa... A cross-section of experience usually brings out the best discussions. Come prepared to listen, discuss, and learn!

Speaker Bio
===========
Michael Vizdos leads the Professional Services Team at Ronin International, Inc. Michael works with the team there -- including Scott Ambler, thought-leader of Agile Modeling -- and clients internationally to help spread the word about Agile Modeling. His career started at Electronic Data Systems, and he then transitioned to two smaller companies (one IPO'ed, the other was a dot bomb) before working with Ronin International, Inc. Michael brings over twelve years of software development experience -- in various roles -- to the current team.

Michael has been in the "technical trenches" and worked on a variety of software development projects -- some teams utilizing methodologies (like the development of DOS and OS/2, then converting OS/2 to the PowerPC platform), and others with a total lack of any methodologies (start-up environments). When the environments lacked any methodologies, teams were built around "waterfall" methodologies early on. Then, realizing this did not work well in all situations, the teams adopted "Agile" approaches that worked. He practices what he speaks about. He considers himself an on-going student in Agile Methodologies. Michael graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 1990.

Please tell your co-workers and fellow Java enthusiasts. As always I hope to see you there.
